How Often Should My Brakes Be Checked?

Brakes should be checked at regular intervals, in order to ensure that they are functioning correctly. Check them every 50,000 kms or every year, whichever comes first. The best time of the year to get them checked is in the fall before the onset of winter. Winter can be especially hazardous in Southern Ontario, due to the freezing rain, slush and snow, so you want to make sure your brakes are in good working order.

How Long Will It Take to Get Them Checked?

A brake check does not take long. If the brakes need maintenance or replacing, the process will only take a few hours.

What Are Signs That My Brakes are Wearing Out?

Squeaking is typically the main indicator that something isn't quite right with your brakes. Click here to learn more about vehicle noises. Another indicator may be that you can't stop quite as quickly as normal.

Can I Fix My Brakes Myself?

A brake change is a fairly advanced process, and not one that should be undertaken lightly. It is possible to change brakes yourself however. Click here for a good guide on how to do so.
