If you store your tires in your garage, you should try to keep them away from gasoline or other solvents

Pros:
Save money: It won't cost you anything to store your tires in your basement.
Climate controlled: Your basement already is temperature controlled, so it makes a good tire storeage location.

Difficult to Navigate: It is difficult to carry your tires up and down the stairs to store them.
Unsightly: Unless you have a hidden spot for tire storage, they can be quite unsightly.
Hard to find appropriate spot: You need to keep your tires stored away from your furnace or sump pump because these are sources of ozone which can deteriorate the rubber in your tires.. This will limit the parts of your basement that you can use to store your tires.
4. Paid Storage Unit

Pros:
Won't take up your space: You won't be taking up any space in your own home if you do your tire storage in a commercial unit.
Climate controlled: You can rent a storage unit that is temperature controlled to protect them from premature deterioration.
Cons:
Expensive: Unless you already use a storage unit, or have other things that you need to store in it, it can be a costly form of tire storage.
Inconvenient: It can be inconvenient having to take and pick up your tires from a storage unit.
Awkward: If you are using a temperature controlled one, then they are usually inside a building. You may have a difficult time carrying your tires to your unit.

Cons:
Cost money but save you time and effort: It will cost you more than storing your tires yourself, however, you will be saved the time and effort and you will know that they are properly cared for and won't have to be replaced sooner than necessary.

Tire storage: Clean out the debris in the grooves
Before you store your tires away for the season, there are a few things that you should do to help them last longer.
1. Inspect the grooves in your tires and remove any debris or small stones that might be lodged between them.
2. Take a look at the overall appearance of your tires, checking for signs of uneven wear or damage.
3. Thoroughly clean your tires and your wheels with soap, water, and a tire brush. Let them dry completely before putting them into storage.
4. Label each tire with the position that you took them off your car so that you can rotate them next season.
5. Cover each tire with a waterproof covering that has holes for ventillation so that you don't get moisture build-up on them.
6. If possible, store your tires vertically instead of horizontally stacking them. This will help to reduce tire distortion and stress.
